Ordered some KYB Gas-a-Just shocks for the Grand Am...Been noticing the rear making thud noise when going over bumps or dips in the road/parking lots. So I did the ol push down trick, sure enough it didn't take much force to make the rear bottom out. It was a slow motion to,should be a quick quiet rebound. Should be here Monday, ordered them from TireRack, got my tires from them, they have pretty good service.

Grab yourself some PB Blast for the lower nuts, and wear knuckle protection.

Otherwise, it's a really quick change, and the Gas-a-just shocks work quite well.

Yea Im going to pick up a can of Pb Blaster. I have some air tools to get those nuts loose so hopefully I don't get those bleeding knuckles:D

Just for another data point, I did the rear shocks in my 98 SE a couple of years ago and had no problems at all. No scraped knuckles, no WD-40 or PB blaster. Just a socket wrench and a breaker bar.

Its all about the air ratchet... and a lift. I'm doing all 4 this week, if the front goes smoothly then all 4 in one evening.

yea,the first time I ever did the front suspension it took me a good afternoon, started on the rear then finished up the next day, mainly putting things back together, everything was in.

Wow,talking about blown shocks! I compressed the old ones, they wouldn't even push back out, lol, not to mention I was having some noise as well.

I put the KYB's in,talking about much more responsive. I definately recommend not cheaping out on cheap shocks like I did the first time. They only lasted a couple years. I don't know how long they are supposed to last but seems not very long

I know Monroe says to replace struts/shocks after 50,000 for the best quality, so that's less than 5 years if you go 12,000/year.

I also had KYB gas shocks instlled and they felt great. They did aqueak after the install so we spray some oil and everything is great.

The one think I hate is that the rattling noise in the das is worse now after the suspension overhaul.
