sorry im new dont really know if its been posted but im sure it has but im thinking of swaping out my 3.4 sfi motor out of my 03 grand am and swapping it with a similar year 3.8 anyone give me any suggestions on how to go about doing it if it can even be done.

Not even close to an easy swap. The 3.8L is a 90-degree V6, the 3.4 is a 60-degree. Transmissions won't bolt up. Engine mounts and axles would have to be fabricated. Suspension would have to be upgraded to handle the extra weight (The 3.8L is a heavy engine). You'd need to relocate items from the engine bay to make room. Why would you want to swap anyway?

If it's performance you're after, stick with your 3400.

:iagree: I say supercharger. Mmmmmmmm performance!

Transmission is the same, but I still wouldn't do that swap (biased opinion).

The money you would've spent to do a swap would be about as much as putting in an RSM supercharger.

Better allocation of funds: Built up internals and forced induction.

I saw a cool drag setup that involved liquid nitrogen being sprayed over the intake tubing... supposedly was less than a few hundred dollars and added roughly 80 horsepower. It was probably on a small block or something, but if you are wanting something that isn't so common try looking into that.

spraying liquid nitrogen on the intake tubing? I wouldn't want to risk that... I'd imagine the engine wouldn't last very long due to the drastic change in temps. (Engine runs 195, Liquid nitrogen is about the same in negative temps...)

Yeah, I don't know any of the details about it. They were running it on a strictly drag setup, but I'd imagine that the temperature of the spray wouldn't be anywhere near that of the actual air brought into the engine. Another thing is this was a strictly drag setup... I wouldn't try it on a daily driver.

You're better off with a 100hp snotfo Nitrous.

stick with th 3400,its a pretty good motor when its not leaking coolant, via LIM

Basic bolt ons,CAI,headers, full exhaust and what not will net you high 14's. Buy the bolt on SC and you'll see a nice power gain.

Not to mention a performance PCM

yea man you can make the GA into a mean machine if you have the $$$.

Wouldn't even have to spend a whole lot. Just doing the basics like exhaust, new PCM and CAI the 3400 is down in the 14's without much work. Easily a low 14's with some more extensive mods.

Im actually thinking about getting a 00+ GT to have has my performance car if I don't go with my current one,may just save it as a show project car,but who knows....
