Uhhh if you need a full *how to* on this you really should find someone who can do it for you or pay a shop.

There aren't many active members here who know about the 3.3's.
I'll help to the best I can:
1. The engine and tranny must be removed as a unit.
They were factory-installed from BELOW, along with the complete front subframe and the axles.
But they can come out the top easily enough once the hood is removed and the assorted stuff disconnected.
Definitely rent an engine hoist.
'Bolts' to be removed aren't the issue.
You support the engine from the hoist, disconnect the three motor/tranny mounts (with however many bolts they have), and lift.
But before you ever got to that point, you had to disconnect all the assorted fittings, wire connectors, fuel/vac/coolant lines and hoses, and the exhaust system.
And you hafta go into each front wheel-well, open each wheel hub, and remove each axle from the hub and tranny.
Make life easy, and remove the radiator fan to create a LOT more space in front of the engine.
Most importantsly, get a Haynes or Chilton's for this car, about $18 at the Checker/AutoZone/etc.
They have a 36-step description of the removal process, much better than I can do here.
* * *
Are you gonna rebuild this engine, or swap-in a used engine?
The swap could be done over a long weekend, especially with a capable assistant.
Regardless, I would take the opportunity while the tranny is out to replace the torque converter, front seal, and TC lock-up solenoid.
Hope this helps,
-Rick
PS: By 'blew-up', I presume you mean something in the block (pistons, rods, bearings, crank, cam) was destroyed; in which case removal from the car is necessary.
If the damage is limited to the timing chain, or to the heads and higher, then the repairs can be done in-place.

by blew up, i mean rod through the block. and i have a Haynes but it doesn't help much. it says that the engine can come out separately from the trans,

i'm good with fords, but never worked on a pontiac before They're both Detroit iron, designed and built (for better or for worse) by the same bunch of engineers who went drinking together in the 70's.
There won't be any big surprises.
I have scanned the 36-step procedure from my Chilton's.
It's pretty 'generic' for all the engines and all the N-bodies (Grand AM, Achieva, Calais, Skylark), '85-'98.
It indicates both the 'under' procedure and the 'lift-out' procedure.
But in both cases, it specifies the engine and transaxle are removed as a unit, then separated.
On the 4-cyl engines, it is possible to drop the MANUAL transmission for service (clutch especially) without removing the engine.
But to do so, you must remove the entire driverside suspension and chassis sub-frame, then slide the tranny leftward.
That's actually more steps than just jerking the entire engine/tranny assembly out the top.
The V6's only came with AUTO trannies, and so did some 4-cyls.
They, too, can be dropped separately for service: Only 26 steps to drop the tranny :banghead: , leaving the engine supported in the bay with a special steel-tube jig.
Again, easier and fewer steps to pull everything out the top, then separate the tranny.
Anyhow, I have nowhere to host my scan.
PM me your e-mail, and I'll email it back as an attachment.
Hope this helps,
-Rick

dont waist your time. the engine and tranny seporate Via the bolts on the bell housing and with a crow bar and a little give the engine can come out the top of the car no problem.
You just need to undu the fly wheel bolts and up will come the engine.
I have ripped apart 3300's time and time again
If you need help or pointers, let me know
