I've searched and read a lot of info here and elsewhere, but I wanted to start a thread about it for some more info and any questions I might run into here soon. From my understanding the EGR vavle is different, intake, and injectors. Is that correct? My question is, can I use all newer stuff in my 99? I read to do this id have to splice into the injector harness and use my old injectors or something. But I'd like to use everything that comes with the newer engine cuz of the lower miles. Any help would be awesome.
Also I realize the pcm would have to be matched also, would I just pull the pcm our from the donor car if the engine is from a grand am?

Honestly if there isnt anything wrong with the bottom end on the 99 motor dont worry about it.
Why do you want to change it out?

Most all wrecking yards have books or info on their computers that will tell you what will interchange. You may be able to use the basic "long block" meaning the heads and block, but then use your intake etc. I'm not sure though. As long as sensors are all in the same place, and bolt patterns are the same then it should go.
I know small things like the alternator bracket look the same but are different. I know because I made an newer one fit the 99 alternator. If I would have had the newer alternator then it would have worked okay.

as long as the motor came out of a grand am there shouldnt be a problem....the 3400s from the imapalas and monte carlos are stroked differently i believe.
