are you talking the reverse trunk where instead of opening straight up, it basically slides up, or the one where it opens completely reverse? i have instructions for the one that slides up, just have to find em

Don't think. I think Josh debadged to whole car, and left in naked. That one has vinyl on the trunk

I was just curious becasue the rims look very familiar and he also had the vent rings painted white. But now that i remember he did de-badge it..Hmmm

Maybe it's his evil twin because I see a pin stripe on that one to. And I know Josh hates pin stripes!

Best way to do it...
Whre it goes into the trunk lid cut around the bottom of the tunk lid around the arm. Remove the lid and round off the ends of the arms around the end bolt hole so that when it pivoits on the bolt the corners don't contact the outter trunk lid skin. Reinstall the the lid and now to make it hinge just remove the two rear factory bolts. All you have to do from there is make a stop. A simple hook could work for that.
Fabrication is a wonderful thing.

Its funny that someone would call it "ghey,gay,etc..." because all I get is compliments, even from the classic muscle car guys at car shows.......This was before my new front bumper and new trunk setup........
I actually had to do some fab work to make it work

what i could do is cut the support where the brackets goin in but i was wondering if there was an easier way thanks guys and i don't think it looks gay

I believe they have a similar trunk design as my 96-98. The support bars go into the trunk. To do this you'll have to cut the metal that surrounds the bars, but not all the metal. I'll have to snap some pics, hard to describe

I dont like it, just because its a mod without function. There's no pratical reason behind making a 'flip flop' trunk. its more one of those mods for 'hey, look what i did'.

same purpose behind modding any car. Any appearence mod is or has the same idea, altering the look of the vehicle. Not arguing just stating the whole idea.

Nope not my car. Its got Vinyl, SE lights, pin stripe, non tinted reverse lights, wrong tires and doesnt have the pontiac logo on the center cap.
Im still out on the mod. Doesnt it make it harder to get crap in your trunk???
And yes I still HATE pin stripes. Especially dealer stick on ones.

I am pretty sure you have the option on how you want it to open. You can have it open the regular way or that way - That is how I understand it

It opens either way. I only do it for shows. But no,not harder to put or take out anything in the trunk. Ive taken out my dual 12 sub box out with no problem:)

How was install?
VanishingImage
09-16-2007, 01:34 AM
Not hard but I have a custom machined piece that my dad made from his machine shop,we didn't make any copies of the AutoCAD drawing he did of it. So that may be a problem for me to how to tell anyone how to do it the way I did because you would have to figure out that particular piece yourself.

lol, yea well i'd rather see a finished underside of a trunk than that at a show IMO.

yea my setup is fully functional, not just flip flop all the time. Takes maybe a minute to get it to do that at shows. Always have people trying to look up under to see how its doing it,lol

I think you're about 7 years too late for this trend, but it is really easy on the 92-95's. You'll need to remove the trunk lid and cut (dremel) the metal under the supports. When you put back together, only use 1 screw on each side, so that the lid can pivot on the supports.
You don't need any "kits" on eBay... those are a ripoff... only generic instructions and a $3 latch from Home Depot (which doesn't really fit anyway... just use the extra 2 screws to lock into original position)
Here's an example of that mod:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/213544
He actually made instructions with pics too, but that was on GMpower forums which are long-gone.

yup. The only thing I added is a pivot piece so there is no stress. its a piece of aluminum that has a machined arch so the trunk doesn't go to far or suddenly moves,I have to make it do it,keeps from damages

The only reason I could see for doing this is the fact that Pontiac leaves you a small sliver of a hole to push your stuff into for a trunk that can easily hold 2 or 3 bodies...

Note: Decent guide, but the 92-95 mounting is different. The bars actually go inside the trunk lid, unlike the 99+.

i know i didn't really want to cut out the trunck but it looks like i don't have an option but i will do it soon
Matt95GT
09-25-2007, 09:50 AM
It must be cut. Otherwise, you can actually remove all bolts and the trunk lid will sit in the same place while it's open.
