I have a coolant leak just below the power steering assembly. I just did the LIM gasket replacement (It was leaking, so this is another leak)
But I can't pinpoint what is leaking or how to replace it if necessary.

Anyway here are some pictures to show where its leaking. at the bottom of the post are links to the larger pictures...

thanks all

Sounds like the timing chain cover gasket is leaking. I had a similar issue in the past and that's where it was leaking as well.

i've read up on some of the timing case cover leaks, and it seems to be pretty hard as far as my mechanic's skills go. Any other observations or recommendations??

thanks.

Did you wash the engine after the previous LIM job?

^ thats kinda along the lines of what I was thinking. Sure its just not left over leakage from when ur fixed the LIM?

It's hard to tell from that photo, whether it's from the timing case gasket or the left end of the waterpump housing.

Or it could indeed be left-over residue.

I would completely clean the engine/bay/etc. with a couple cans of 'Engine Degreaser' from Checker/AutoZone/etc., and the high pressure hose at the coil car wash.
Then add a bit of Universal UV Dye', also from checketer/yada/yada to the cooling system.
Monitor the location for a few days, then examine under 'black light'. The dye will indicate the exact source, long before the residue build-up so badly that you can't discern anything.

Good luck,
-Rick

Ya, it's not residue from the LIM... I can see it push out water at a slow drips pace... if you look closely you can kinda see a bulge. should I take more effort and make clearer pictures??

thanks

I see where the leak is, but I can't picture it in context to the rest of the engine.

See that second pic?
Step back from the car one pace and take the same pic, so we see more of what's to the right and left.

Then a photo looking straight down, from about 24" above the engine (camera back tight against the underside of the open hood).

Then a couple others from differing angles.

Thanks,
-Rick

Ok, finally had some time to make the pictures.

There's only one angle that i can make pictures from, but i did take one of the whole engine. Plus i used a better camera. :)
