no matter what on my heater / ac control, my car acts as though the option is set to 1 when it is off and 1 on 1, 2 on 2 so on so on. but its never off when the car is running. its as thought it doesnt recognize it is set to off, except like when the ac button is hit and its on 1 or higher, the light is on, but when switched to off, the glow goes off but the cold air is still comming out.

its not that much of a problem, just kind of annoying. if its like that stock, then thats fine, but i doubt it. i am sorry i am not that clear as i cant think of how to word things, but if you have any question, please ak and i will try to clear things up.

what i am asking for is a way to either make it funtion correctly or to at least stop the warm/ cold air comming through when the setting is turned to off. thanks!

When you say 'Options', I think you're referring to 'fan speeds'.
Even when fan speed is 'zero' or 'off', air will still be 'rammed' into the cabin as you drive along the road.

The AC and heater cores cool/heat OUTSIDE air that is coming into the cabin thru the cowl vent (the slotted vents under the rear hood edge, below the widshield) and being recirculated from the cabin (above the front passenger toes).

IF you want to close the cowl vent and do 100% recirculation, then push the 'max' button, the one with the little pictogram of air recirculating in the cabin, instead of coming in over the hood.

Hope this helps,
-Rick

thx and i know what you are saying, but i am saying that while the car is parked it still pushes air the temp i have it set on as though the fan speed was on 1, and thx for renaming the "options" haha. but yea, im just cornfusd about this... im thinking a possible vacuum leak? not sure, but thx!

Nope, not a 'vac' problem.

A vac line comes from the intake manifold, and provides 'vac' to the control panel.
The control panel uses this vac ONLY to open and close little damper doors in the ductwork.
It has nothing to do with the fan/motor itself.

So if there is air moving when the car is parked, then the fan motor is spinning.
If it's spinning even when you have it set to 'off'/zero, then something is wrong with the fan switch.
The switch is totally electrical, no vac involved; it sends power to the fan motor resistor block, which determines the speed.

I haven't heard of your particular problem before, but there are numorous other problems with the resistor.
Do a search for 'Blower Resistor' or 'Blower Motor Resistor'and read-up on those problems/solutions in this forum.

Good luck,
-Rick
