hmm Jl 12w3v2's.. hmm 300 rms on those babies? well you could go with an alpine mrd-m500, or a JL 500 w amp.. pretty much any amp that runs at 5 or 600 watt RMS! rememeber.. just cause an amp says its 800 watts.. doesnt mean shit.. look at the rms.. course i always recommend those two amps.. they seem so useful and ive completely fallen in love with them..
I've got the exact setup with alpine mrd-500 amp. awsome amp, its ll digital so you can buy a control center for it and adjust everything from your seat.

Ok correct me if I'm wrong but I am getting 2 of those subs...so that means 600W RMS right?? So wouldn't I need something better than the mrd-m500 amp...since it only supports 500W RMS..again correct me if I'm wrong.

actually...its 300 RMS to get maximum excursion. if youre not competeing for SPL, then 500 RMS is plenty. jsut make sure that if its not enough power for you, you DONT boost the gain all the way.

what do you mean by boosting the gain all the way dave? are you talking about sub level or what?

I'm pushing three of those with 1500 watts, they handle every bit.

is that 1500w rms though bass101? with a 1500w rms amp runing 3 JL subs rated at 300w apeice you could blow your subsif you play them at the maximum level of a 1500w rms amp.. or so my understanding is that you would

boosting the gain all the way is done by turning the amp volume all the way up. when you do that you clip the speakers and you can blow them over time.
i meant 500 RMS total for the pair. that would be plenty.

ahhh! thx dave.. i never really understood what boosting the gain meant. I wasnt sure if you meant having sub control on your deck and putting it to max power or not.

As long as the amp isn't clipping I think I should be alright. Especially since they are in sealed boxes. That's 1500 RMS.

500/1 sounds very good to me too dave. JL certainly knows how to make car audio

today i sold a ssytem to a customer with a 350Z. we did factory head unit, but an eclipse amp (85x4) and set up the fronts with infinity kappa 6.5 coaxials, and the rear i bridged to a 10w3v2-d2. the install happens saturday. were doing a custom box to fit under the rear strut tower bar.
im talking about this cus im showing how a 4 cahnnel amp, when bridged that gets you about 220 watts, is going to be plenty of power, especially when its fireing into glass. ill tel everyone know how it sounds on saturday night.
