As long as you shake it up before you used it the first time and shake it up this time you will be fine.

Ive never seen a 4 quart jug
You using mobil1 full synthetic? If so, changing your oil every 3 months is a waiste.

The thing that "wears out" is the additives and that happens in a engine. The oil has been in the ground for a million years so a couple of months in a bottle isn't doing much.
I would say to change every 3K for city driving only. I'm out in the country and change every 5K. Synthetic can go longer.
3 months is way too early, I change around once a year if the car didn't have the miles.

It's fine to use the leftovers remaining in the last jug. I always do, or save for topping off between changes. (when my Nissan QR25DE occasionally eats oil  )

I have, but it was dino oil... forget what brand. It was annoying having to buy a supplementary quart for that extra half qt.

This is how i do it.
Buy a 5 quart jug (never seen any jugs less than that other than 1 quart bottles)
Change oil
Save 1/2 quart for next oil change
Next oil change buy 4 1 quart bottles
Change oil with left over 1/2 quart and the 4 new 1 quart bottles
Next oil change start the process over again

Use a Mobile 1 M1-201 filter and it will actually need that extra half quart.

I think oil does go bad over time as additives and stuff start to separate or breakdown with time, even without being in the engine. Yes oil has been in the ground for millions of years, but it's not like they just extract it from the ground pour it in bottles and put it on the shelf, LOL.
That said I believe it would take several years for anything "bad" to happen to most motor oil--even after 2-3 years it would probably still be okay to use.
I wouldn't worry about oil that's a few months old, it'll be perfectly fine.
