Not a question for my grand am, but for a 2001 Ford ZX2 donated to my schools automotive program.

My group (5 people) has to gut the entire car, rewire the entire car (and for those who don't know, theres about 4miles of wire in the average car), take off all the suspension/steering parts and put them back on, disassemble the entire engine and trans and put them back together as well.

And has to run and drive after. No easy task, considering it didn't run when we got it. Only has 210 miles, but has seen better days.

I'm going onto a collision repair/custom painting and airbrushing school, so I asked if we could paint it to, and our teacher gave me permission.

Anyway, my question is, what is that special tape called that they use for custom paint jobs, so they can mask off curved lines, such as when they do flames on cars and motorcycles?

Yes, I'm making a flaming ZX2. lol. Ill get pictures when its done. (about a month, probably)

Awesome. Thanks.

I was at auto zone and I thought that was it.

But they only had thick shit... it was about 3/4ths of an inch wide.

They should have it in their catalog, you may just have to order it because it probably isn't a highly demanded item in your area.

Even 1/8" masking tape can be used. That is what I used when I did the lettering on my trailer.

If yu want more flexiable stuff get the striping tape for really tight turns. Check out a local paint supply store they should have plenty.

Also if you remove the tape carefully right after you paint it gives the chance for the paint or spread a tad and your end results will have less of a edge on it and feel smoother to the touch.
