Does anyone know what the alt. should be putting out in volts and amps? 4KQuad told me that it's possible that if my alt. isn't putting out the right amount of current that it can cause the sensors not to read right due to low power, and that could be the problem in the way my car is running and performing?

stock alt readings for mine are 105amp and of corse 14-16 volts since its a 12 volt system.

13.8 to 14.4 is normal, it should never get as high as 16 volts.

yea, i was just running off of what the Army's alts put out on they're 12 volt systems. but then again we do use batterys that are much bigger they would ever fit in my lil GA.

either way it should always be about 2volts above what the battery puts out. even when the alt was putting out 1 amp....:bawl:

Is it possible for the alt. or battery to go bad and cause this kinda problem....first start up it will run kinda funny for about 30 seconds then go normal.

Hell no.... Im still fighting a losing battle. it started out as just starting the car, it would run for about 1 min., start to bog/idle funny for about a min. or two then smooth out, then would run normal. And now it's running like crap all over again. i know the coil housing is going bad again, this will be the 3rd time i've changed it in the last 2 months. So now i'm not sure if i should replace the alt for 150.00 or have the computer updated?:???:

Is there a Cold Start Switch or injector. Something is playing with the fuel supply.
Just wondering..what makes you think the cover is going bad again??? The one on my 2.3 seems pretty steardy like it would last for a long time. I did replace it, but have had no problems since.
If you had a carb, I would say the choke system is malfuctioning. So what ever replaces it on the 2.4 would be a good place to start looking. It sounds like when a carb goes bad and you get too much fuel all at once. So the car coffs and chokes, untill you floor it and let the motor rumbble until it starts to catch then all of a sudden Rooms to life, till you let off the gas, then it start to flood and spit. Floor it give it a minute to clear and its alive...till you let off and it starts again.
It has to be some thing to do with the cold start system..
have you had a chance to drive it for 15 or 20 minutes so it gets worm. If so does the missing/bogging problem go away. If the motor runs right after it gets hot...it has to be some thing to do with the cold start stuff.
Ok, go shoot all this down..... as the car has Lots of other ideas.
Do you have another battery you can drop in there to test it for a day or two?
