Sometimes the car is fine sometimes it jerks and sputters at redlights like its jumping and sometimes on take offs you can feel the cylinder trying to fire. Also when trying to go up any type of incline you can feel the hesitation and jerking like the cylinder is cutting out and back in. It gets a lot worse when you turn on the air conditioner. If the car is in park its in fine, if its in gear it does it.
I have the stupid service engine soon light on (THIS IS ON A SATURN NOT A GRAND AM) and it has been on for some time now. I go and have the codes read, get a TCC code, a cylinder missfire code, and a Bad 02 sensor in Bank 1. So obviously my 02 sensor (1st one ) is bad.
I had the TCC problem fixed, no more code, had the plug wires and plug replaced and some other things, code left for a day or two but is now coming back up.
Anyway, after further investigations and tests I replaced the cat converter, had a high pressure fuel injector and system cleaner done , and put another pair of new wires and plugs. Im trying to avoid a Fuel injector replacment because they are about 190 an injector for the car in reference here. I had another place test the computer and they are saying the computer is fine. I traced the wires from the injector and they seem to be fine.
The only thing left I havent done is the 02 sensor. I was wondering if that could maybe be causing the missfire ? Like I know the 02 controls the air fuel ratio, and measures it and all that good shit, but Im wondering if maybe it could be measuring that its too rich or to lean and maybe cutting out on the fuel pressure or something ? Im just grasping at straws here to see if that could maybe be the problem.
List of repairs and maint. done recently
FUEL SYSTEM FLUSH
CAT. CONVERTER REPLACED
SEAFOAMED
NEW PLUGS AND WIRES
NEW COIL PACK
COMPRESSION TEST
CLEANED EGR WITH CARB CLEANER
REPLACED PVC VALVE
REPLACED AIR INTAKE BOX AND INTAKE TUBE
CHANGED AIR FLOW TEMP. SENSOR
Thanks in advance,
James
