I almost got rid of my 95 grand am to buy a used car

The car i was going to buy was a
1997 Grand Prix Se
3.8L
165,000 miles
p/w
p/l
power sunroof
power mirrors

and some other crap. there was some major bad parts too

key was stuck in the ignition
tint was fading purple and peeling and bubbling
cd player didnt work
rusted through rocker panels (NASTY)
water in taillights
Key Fob didnt work with a brand new battery

I was going to pay 2,000 for the car. I think i made the right decision to keep looking for a new car. I like my car but it has some problems.
needs all new tires
power window motor
cd player
front speakers
TPS Sensor

i know its not alot of problems but my car also has 147,000 miles. I think im going to keep looking for something a little newer with less miles what do you all think?

You were going to pay $2000 for that piece of shit Grand Prix?

Find something from a private owner if you only have a little bit to spend.

The GP you described would have problems getting 250 bucks even from me.

You can put the 1996-1998 front and rear clips on. They bolt right up to the 1995's.

Don't the rear quarters need to be welded in?

:spit: that's the same thing i was thinking. some people are just crazy for what they want out of their car. and then other people dont get enough out of their car IMO.

on your car that part list isn't bad.

bad tires? you're gonna have to have those on ANY car you buy eventually.
power window motor? i can understand your pain, and it can cost you a couple hundred bucks if you're not careful.
cd player and speakers? if it's just something to listen to you can get both of those for less than $200
TPS sensor? i'm not gonna check, but that shouldn't cost you but around $30 i'd guess....probably less.

You can get a brand new window regulator with motor on ebay dirt cheap.

With your last post I thought you had actually sealed the deal, I am happy for you that you didn't change to a car with nearly 200K miles on it...that is kind of scary.

You don't have that many issues with the GA now, sounds like it is worth more than that GP.

No.

Only the bumper, the decklid, and the lights need changed.

Now if you were trying to change it to an Achieva or Skylark rear clip, then yes, you would need to weld them in.

Sorry bout the mixup Night, figured the light buckets in the rear 1/4s would be different, guess I need to look into a gen other than my own once in a while.
