For me the top page takes me to Home page OR forum. If I go to home and press the top, it takes me back. If I go to forum and enter a small forum, then press the top, it takes me back to forum.

The forum logo link has been changed back to the old behavior, it will now only link to the forums. :)

Thanks Joe. I'll be working on more styles as time goes on. For now I was concentrating on perfecting the classic style. Until then people are welcome to use the default styles, although they aren't very pretty.

I personally prefer the black text on white background. Oh in the same note, when switching to the "other" style it shows the default vBulletin logo top right of page instead of GAOC logo. But then again it prbably won't look right on the white background.

Exactly. I have not customized the default styles in any way at all. All will come in time. :)

Thanks Joe!
The secret to the success was that I did not upgrade our 'Live' database. I made a duplicate copy of our forums and upgraded it. Once everything was ready I did a quick rename of the folders, and the new forums were accessible. That way if something were to go wrong, the original forums were still sitting there available and 100% intact.
Not to mention the months of planning and the weeks of testing before attempting it for real. ;)

Hehe, love those undocumented hours of pre upgrade strategies!
All though I have found another bug.....
After hitting the New Post link I get a list of all the threads with new posts, but if I hit the refresh button of my browser I do not get any New Threads, I only get new posts for the original threads that showed when the page first loaded.

That isn't a bug, it's working as designed. To update the list click the 'new posts' link again.
Unlike the old software, the list does not get updated again until you click the link again. With the old software, it was updated dynamically every time the page refreshed. As well, it could update while you were changing pages, making missing new threads/posts possible.
With the new software, you click the 'new posts' link. You can then browse through the pages of new posts, and the list won't update again until you click the 'new posts' link again. That way you won't miss any posts.
Make sense? It's kind of hard to explain.

I find it better that way... otherwise if I have 10+ pages to catch up on after a weekend, there will be 2-3 more pages by the time I hit the end. Then I have to go back to page 1-2 and see what I missed. I prefer the new style.

I am sure a mod deleted it I guess.
I had uploaded a pic and it uploaded in thumbnail instead of full pic.
( I was testing functions ) then I linked the pic which worked just fine.
About 10 hours or so later it was gone. So I figured it got deleted
by some Canandian hater :)
Here is the pic, another test to see if it thumbnails again.

This is not a bug, but more of a suggestion, at the top of the page your on in the forums, it shows your forum path (see atttached) it would be helpfull, and save alot of scrolling, to have this at the bottom of the page as well, so once you have scrolled down to the bottom of a thread, you can see your path and click back to wherever you want to go... many other forums I visit are like this, and it was not like this in the old software either, just something I would like to see!

Under our avatars there is an area where we can put a short saying or the likes. Shawn, yours says "Ice Boogies". My currently says "Registered User", which it is different than what it was before. I can't find the place to change that anywhere in my CP area. Any ideas?

It should be in the UserCP, under 'Edit Profile' in the 'Optional Information' section. If it's not, let me know. I might have messed up the permissions settings. :)

Go to your UserCP. Then click "Edit Profile" from the left. Under the second box "Optional Information - All information will be viewable by other forum members." there is an entry for "Custom User Title" which will show above your avatar.
Edit:  beat me to it.

My thing in the upper right is telling me that I have 3 unread private messages, when I haven't had a private message in like 2 or three weeks. I went thru and "read" a whole bunch of them but it still tells me 3 unread
FOR THE RECORD-
i LOVE that the new posts doesn't update itself anymore... that shit was annoying as ****.
Secondly, i'd also like to say that I LOVE that when typing a quick reply, I can just hit the back button and it will take me right back to the new posts page. Previously you HAD to go to the drop down arrow on the back button and select the "search results" page. The go back right away thing is double sweet for me cause my mice all have the forward and back buttons on the left hand side so it just makes my cruising THAT much faster

ok, a possible problem and suggestion
problem: is it just me or is the new page really slow at loading? i've got broadband, so it's not a dial-up problem. and other sites load quick like they should. it does it when i click to come here, when i try and post a reply (whether it's short or long), anytime.
the suggestion: i miss the drop down box to jump forums. the new thing you put at the bottom of the screen is a big help, don't get me wrong. if you don't want the drop down box like we used to have then i guess i'll live with the new setup.

Same here.
It says 25 pages (or 500 threads) are new. About 6 pages in there is a little bar that says something like "the following messages are not new buy have unread replies".
Also when I view a thread under "new posts" sometimes it shows every post as unread instead of going to the last post I read.

We made a setting change, once you mark the forums as read, it will start counting over (and more accurately) from now on. You're seeing the new posts from the last 14 days.

We got rid of the drop-down box because it is a server-intensive process to generate the HTML for that box on each and every page. Our forums are getting larger and larger, we've got to do what we can to preserve resources and prevent slowdowns.
I'm giving the server a reboot in a minute, that should clear up any speed issues. :)

Yes. The forum actually tracks which threads you have read, so just like your email, if you don't want to read them, you've gotta mark them as read.
The huge benefit to this system is that if your visit is interrupted, you can easily still catch up on the old threads. No more cookie timeouts, no more flaky coming online and everything is marked read on you.
