......did I miss this announcement? http://www.chevrolet.com/hhr/ssturbocharged/
I want one of those, bad. I always said it would need 3 major things. 1 A Turbo, 2 A FMI, and 3 A Big Drop. 1 Down, 2 to go...

your honestly the first person i talked to that actually likes the look of the HHR...
in my eyes its GM's version of a PT Loser...but maybe it will have better luck than the PT...
to each his own i guess.

Don't like the base HHR's around now, but looks much better in this form.
Thoughts...
1. LSD should be standard... it will need it.
2. Engine covers to the next level... "engine-in-a-box?" :gay2:
3. GM site not Firefox compatible.
4. That isn't worth more than $23K... but I have a hunch GM thinks it will be worth at least $27K. (can't see pricing thanks to #3)
5. Alternative... DIY... turbo the shit out of a 2.2 Eco HHR.

I think they have potential for a hot custom, and I'm not talking stick on chrome crap like all the PT Cruiser owners do.
I'd get a delivery verison with no windows, slam it tuckin a 18/20s combo, do it up cnady apple red with alot Von Dutch styled pin striping, and a Rod shop style logo where the back window should be.

thats what I dont understand... I didnt think the cobalt and ion supercharged 2.0's had VVT. The main difference between the 2.0 and my 2.2 is the crank from what I heard so, if that is true, then in actuality a 2.4 vvt crank may be possible to swap in with little to no modifications other than a retune.

Oooh... forgot about the window-less version... they are kinda hot. With that in mind, I'd rather go that route than buy the Turbo version. I'm thinking, base delivery version, manual trans, custom turbo, fascia from that turbo version, wheels, nice paint, shaved, dropped. That would be hot.

Apparently the Turbo Ecotec 2.0 already has VVT in the Sky Redline... prolly just using that powertrain. Interesting idea, if the displacement difference is from stroke length only... although I'm not sure how much difference .2 liters will make alone (without the VVT feature). Oh, and to complicate the Ecotec family even more... I see that new Saturn Astra uses a 1.8L Ecotec.

:agree:
Good god how hot would this thing be with a shaved rear gate, shaved reflectors and a chopped and tucked rear bumper?

 Yea, good call on the rear. I would also suggest doing something with the gas filled door... it stands out too much when part of the fender flair.

I don't really like the looks of the HHR...but I do have to admit these things are wicked cool. I've prepped a panel HHR, and the coolest thing is the shaved doorhandles for the rear doors. You can open them with the transmitter on the key, or buttons on the drivers and one on the passenger side. the compartments in the back and the almost truck/van bed in the back is cool. They have a rubber mat in the back..
The only disadvantage over a truck is the closed roof...duh.
But if you don't need as much room as a w/t van, they are great. Good mpg, cool looks.
I agree with the price though, wtf. They're probaly cheap as hell to make, but with unusual features that you don't see that much, so they jack the price because they're unique.
I'd drive it for work, but to be caught driving one as a DD?
No.

Yeah put some wood grain on it!!!!! No just kidding! I could see a HHR being customized, it would be cool. Don't know how much headroom there is but a chopped roof would also look good.
There's is a rag top PT Cruiser GT around my way. Dark Blue/black top, Eagle 192's on it. It's got a turbo and I don't think it's stock. It's not a bad lookin PT. It's pretty quick too.

Actually, the turbo PT Cruiser has been discontinued for 08. That might by why Chevy is giving it a shot.

yeah, sounds like place of employment "hey, some other company tried, and failed miserably (IMO), but we're gonna do it anyway."
i dont like the HHR personally. the only edge it has over the PT is that it's a GM product in my book. both companies could discontinue their respective models and it wouldnt bother me in the slightest.
i'm with matt, a LSD should be standard (neon SRT4 flashback anyone?). the "engine cover" is gay. and it gets the "SS" badging as well???? come on GM. i think there needs to be a specific HP rating before you can slap the SS moniker on it  but i guess it's the same thing chrysler does with the SRT lineup. at least this is turbocharged. it's a step above the non supercharged cobalt ss.
and W rated tires? not a snowballs chance in hell you're gonna get me to copilot a HHR to 160+mph. not happening

I wouldn't say the PT Cruiser was a failure, they sold tons of them.

I love the HHR's... and I really like the idea of them coming turbocharged now, makes them more appealing, I'd like to own one some day.
