Whats up everyone, I originally posted this message at the focusfanatics message boards but i didnt get a reply, i take that back, i did get a reply from someone who had no clue what they were talking about. Ive put remote starters in both my wifes focus and my grand am so i know hers has the pats transponder system and i know mine has the passlock 2. The focus also has a very common problem with the ignition cylinder not turning with the key. "So heres my question I have a 2002 focus that is having this ignition problem and i've done the wd 40 thing quite a few times but now it's about to the point of complete failure. My question is could I buy this part http://www.autozone.com/R,APP389862/...ductDetail.htm from autozone and install this in my car without problems. I realize that i would have to original key to unlock the doors and the new key that comes with the new cylinder. I didnt see anything about anyone buying this part so I wasnt sure if it can be used or if maybe auto zone just started stocking them. Thanks in advance." What i put around quotes is exactly what i put at focusfanatics. My other question is with the ford transponder system I know the car starts with resistor values with the key having to match the ignition cylinder. So if a get an aftermarket cylinder with keys and i hook it up in her car will it automatically work or is there a resistor value setting stored in her car computer so if i do get this new cylinder with keys it still wont work.
