increase hp in sohc quad4 l.o. any takers

my quad4 l.o. is only running 18.5's at the track. i have 2.5" cat back magnaflow exhaust, apc 3" air intake. what else can i do (cheaply) that can give me faster times?

The Quad SOHC engine is more of a fuel economy motor, not very much room for improvement. :( You could try nitrous, but your engine will probably crap out on you sooner.

No offense but I wouldn't even take that thing to the track. You need to do a head swap and everything from the head up pretty much, for at least an LO DOHC motor. You could at least break a 16 on stock DOHC LO if your consistant. Don't waste your time trying to make that OHC fast, it won't happen. Do the DOHC conversion to at least an LO from there you can get some HO cams and spruce it up a little more.

If time is money then its expensive. But you can do a DOHC head swap for about $400. which is cheap BTW.

is the 400 bucks all parts? or is it 400 to have it done professionally like, at a shop?
