of course building this grand am 5 speed with the 3300 engine.
What would be the red line? Any clusters I have seen with the 3300 in it have never had a tack so i dont know where it is......
Do you?

Mine has full gauges w/tach...redline is at 5500rpm.

That sounds about right. Mine limts in between 5000 and 5500 rpms. The guage itself goes up to 8000. I guess they want people to think the 3300 has more potential than it does. :)

I'm going by what colors are on the tach itself. I've never been to 5500. And yeah, that 8000... looks like overkill to me too!:agree:

HMM i wounder if the cam would support a 8000 rpm. Or if the engine would blow up:rolleyes:

Find someone with a 3300 that is dumb enough to let you try a 8000 rpm redline on their engine. That way, when it blows up and takes off the front end of their car, you can just say, "Well that didn't work. Hope you have insurance."

Are you volinteering.... for the good of the G.A network?
lol all i ment by that was i wounder how far you could push it before engine damage would result or a rev limiter kicked in?:slap:

Ohhhh, I see. No, as much as I complain about my car, I'd rather try and keep it running. I think my rev limiter is around 5500, but you could probably push it a little past that. But I don't know... on a 4-banger, you could hit the 8000 rpm mark, but on a big v6, that would be just asking for trouble. Like I said though, if you had a junker GA with good/decent 3300 in it, I would try it. They seem to be tough little engines. Unfortunatly, I think that 5500 rpms is about the best it can do, but damn that engine/exhaust (GT duals) sounds good though at those high rpms. Especially when someone is trying to be cool and keep up with me in their crappy car. ha ha

Our cars have rev limiters in place, so you'd never even be able to max out a tach. The engine would sputter and cut out before you even reached 8K RPM
