I'm not 100% sure if this should be in the forsale/wanted section because I mainly want to talk about all the ones people have and how to buy one.

Questions:

Is there a subscription for GPS's? If so how much and how do I pay?

What brand would be good for city and highway?

Features I like:

I would like it to talk to me to tell me where I'm going.

I would like it to be able to be detached for safe keeping(thief)

I would like it to tell me how fast I'm going(speedo's can be wrong)

I would like it around 200$-250$ new/used could go higher if its worth the money, Thanks and let me know.

Nope, unless you opt for something like MSN Direct for traffic/weather information

I kind of like Garmin units, but most of the ones out there now are very similar. Go check out the reviews at cnet.com, and read the user reviews too - they don't always match the "paid" reviewer's opinion.

Most units have this.

That too. :)

Most makers have lower-end devices such as the Garmin Nuvi 200 or TomTom One for this kind of money, or you might be able to get something that's higher-end but discontinued for that kind of outlay. As for used, as long as you can get map updates you shouldn't have a problem.
