Welcome to the World of Car Audio.
Answer these questions real quick:
what do you want to buy? (Headunit, Speakers, Subs, Amps)?
what kind of music do you like to listen to?
what is your budget?
what would you like to achieve with your stereo?
can you buy stuff online or store only?

im only asking to make sure i can help ya out. cuz i was in your shoes once, and ill be glad to help ya.

If you do decide to get a new head unit for the sterio system let me know I would be intrested in your old one.

Yeah, you can run it all without buying an HU, you need a line level converter to hook an amp up though. It won't be as clear as a new HU.

Look at Pioneer or Alpine for HUs. they have lots of features and you can choose what you want in a HU. i picked this one for you: Alpine HU (http://http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5nvGnvODG60/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=500CDA9883&s=0&cc=01)

for front speakers, check these out: Infinity 4x6s (http://http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5nvGnvODG60/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=1086412CFP&s=0&cc=01)
for rear speakers, try these:Infinity 6x9s (http://http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5nvGnvODG60/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=1089613I&s=0&cc=01)

you can get all of this cheaper on different sites.
i would recomend not amping the speakers right now. usually you want to use an external amp for them when you have subs so that you can have a HPF for the speakers and not blow them.

Sounds like you did good for your first setup. What matters is how much you like it, in fact, thats all that matters. Good to see you went with a round speaker up front, much better sound than aftermarket 4x6's
