Based on the fact that they are both 600 watts @ 2 ohm, mono amps, and I can get both for the same price, what do you think would produce more bass as well as better quality bass? Right now it will be used to push 1 10" MTX MXS-1004 sub, but in the next few months will be either adding another one, or upgrading to an Alpine Type-X or Type-R. Thanks guys.

are you sold on those two amps??? Because honestly ur not gonna be able to tell a difference between the two....and If you where getting a type X I would get more power because they are very power hungry...

If your only running that 1 sub off the amp its only going to be putting out 300watts. To get the full amout of power the amp has to offer, you'll need a 2 ohm load. I know a single type R should perform well with 600 watts, so if you decide to go that route, just make sure its a dual 4 ohm or single 2 ohm VC sub.

Well I plan on just running the 1 mtx sub for a few months, then probably in the spring upgrade to the type r or similar. So as far as the two said amps, there really arent any reasons to buy one over the other?

MTX's typically put out more power then they're rated for, and I believe RF's are or at least were the same way. They come with a birth certificate that states their actually power output. Aside from brand preference, and looks...They're pretty similar.
