'99 GA/GT Throwing code P0440 EVAP emissions malfunction.
CAr is running great other than the code. Is the most likely cause for this code the gas cap? If not where should I start? Thanks.

Could be. The PCM is not seeing a voltage change from the fuel tank pressure sensor. Could also be a bad purge solinoid, vent solinoid, anyone of the evap hoses, bad fuel tank pressure sensor or circuit or PCM.

Try a cap first, if that doesn't work, you'll need to take it to a repair shop.
