ok im only asking this because around here GC is hard to find and most places dont restock it when it's out.
now since napa carries royal purple it would be easier to get and there wouldnt be a problem getting it in the future.
or should i just use some reg synthetic. im already using synthetic in the car right now. the engine has about 7k on it.
how do you guys feel about royal purple.

I have used royal purple in all my rides and I swear by it. I used to run mobil 1 and the guys at one of the local shops said try royal purple and I wouldnt go back to mobil 1. I had a lancer ralliart at the time with MIVEC ( similar to VVT-i ) and with a car that has VVT-i you could feel a little extra pull. Also, I stopped running thin oil like 5w 30 simply because if youve ever looked at the seals on a motor that has been ran with thinner oil it tends to seep past them easily and causes unnecessary early replacement of them. I decided to run 20W50 and have used it 8 months out of the year up here in my 3400 and my GTZ with a QUAD4. thinner oils are better for more HP, but unfortunately not protection. But I had one oil change that went 12,000KMS easily on my lancer and the oil was still clean ( on RP ). I recommend RP man. Plus its formulated with micropolishing agents so if your bearings are a little worn out, RP can help bring life back into your engine.

German castrol 0w30 can only be found @ AutoZone's, it's a very very good real full synthetic oil(Group IV PAO/ester basestock), i would use it over RP anyday of the week..

i know about the german castrol at autozone. but the 2 i found that carry it, one isnt restocking it and the other didnt have much left maybe a case or 2.
if more places carried it and if every autozone carried it and restocked it then it would be good. ive had no problems with it.
i dont think i have to worry about the bearings being worn out the engine only has 7k miles on it. bought it with 300 back in january when the lim went out and took the bearings with it.
hows the 20w50 compared to a say 10w30 for overall runability.

Well...basically 20w50 is good to -20C I believe, so its not the greatest for cold, cold weather starts. 20W50 is simply a little thicker and may be a better application depending what you have done for mods and what your goals are for the car.. There used to be an application guide I had a long time ago and 20w50 is great to run in NA cars. If you are so curious of RP, maybe you should check out there website and read up about it a little more. It offers a few advantages over conventional oils and other competitive brands of synthetic. The micro polishing agents in the oil is just one advantage that they happen to offer...Theres more than just that. Im not going to knock different brands and grades of oil simply because its application dependent and owner preference.

I work at autozone up here in michgian, and i swear by royal purple. I always always always do my changes with royal purple oil and a K&N oil filter, which for the money, is well worth it. combined together, its a candy treat for the engine.
and btw, i havent seen any castrol german at autozone, unless thats the syntec, which, in that case, we have. ^.^ I'm so gratefull we sell what we do. the oil filter generally costs around 12 bucks pre employee discount out the door with tax and everything, and 9.54 on my discount. hehe, just gave her another oil change today. RP is magic to my ears with her running.
