Hey everyone, I was out cruisin car lots yesterday and kinda got the bug to trade. I am lookin at either a 2008 Jeep Wrangler X or a 2007 Jeep Liberty. I like them both, The Wrangler is Yellow with a soft top, 6 speed Trans, Not much for options on it, but i like it. The Liberty is silver also with a 6 speed manual trans. Both has there pros and cons of what i like. I just think its time for a change from the GA. I already filled out the loan app. on the Wrangler, I just have to wait till monday to find out if im approved or not.

Don't get the Liberty, go for the Wrangler. I would personally look at the Rubicon...an older model if needed.

Well i have always been a fan of the Jeep Wrangler, They look great and have tons of things you can do with it. BUT i have never looked at the reliability rating on them and after reading all the things people had to say about jeeps i think i'll stick with my GA for a few more years, Or at least untill the 09 Camaro comes out.
I did get approval for the loan and everything, but being i had time to look at reviews on the internet this weekend i have changed my mind on getting one. The reliability rating on Jeeps is even worse then GM. I also thought having 4 wheel drive would be nice, but i have gotten along with out for this long.
Anyway thanks to those who posted comments. It made me look at reviews and change my mind before i made a big mistake.

Wranglers are the only real Jeeps. Just beware the poor gas mileage... my friend ended up trading his in only a year because of it. (He had the 6-speed manual BTW.)

How "poor" is the gas milage?
I'm getting about 17 MPG city/HWY in the Monte...

Like 12 MPG. I remember him complaining that he couldn't ever get over 15 MPG even on the highway.

OUCH! I would trade the damn thing in too...I wonder WTF those MPGs are caused by? Looks like I won't be looking for a Rubicon any time soon.

Heck, one of my co-workers has a heavly modded Wrangler and he gets 8 mpg. As far as dependability, remember, Jeeps are made by Daimler-Chrysler.
I have a 02 Liberty and have never had any problems. But as someone stated, the Liberty is pretty much a domestic 4X4. Not made for trails and rock climbing.

Well... it has the aerodynamics of a brick. Also, the powertrain is meant for off-roading use, which tends to use more fuel than an on-road tuning setup. Another thing is that it is HEAVY. The curbweight of the 2007 Wrangler X, is 3750LB, and that is the lightest of the trim levels. The Unlimited Rubicon is 4300LB's.
My G5, otoh, is actually 2991LB (or 3176 if my fat ass is in it) despite being longer and wider and essentially "Bigger" than the Wrangler.
