remote start ?

hows it goin everybody? i'm new here and have a question: anybody have any experience with installing a remote start to their grand am? i just bought my gf a grand am and she wants me to install a remote starter for her, i already purchased it and its on its way!! if you have any experience or trouble please gimme your comments!!!

Do you have prior experience with Remote Starters? The 03 GA can be a little tricky to a noob. installer. First, you will have to use a secuirty interface to bypass GMs Passlock system. (Directed Electronics- DEI- Viper, makes some ofthe best on the market.) The only other really tricky part is door locks. They are resistor based and use a difference resistance to do lock and unlock from the same wire. An easy way around that is by accessing the BCM, in the passenger side foot well. You can find seperate - trigger door lock/unlock wires. I haven't seen a GA in the shop recently, but I think thats about all the "tricky-ness" you will encounter installing the remote start.

mine took me about 2 hours to do. if you need a vehicle wiring diagram go to bulldogsecurity.com, click on the vehicle wiring diagram tab at the top, and look up your car from there. It looks more complicated than it really is and you probably wont use all of the wires that are attached to the remote starter unit and the bypass module.
