My 98 Grand Am GT doesn't have folding rear seats..but I would like them for when I get my sound system in....would folding rear seats out of another GA fit in my car...and if so....how difficult would it be to put them in?

i know the 99+ fold. The only clip is the one located on the top of the seats and lock on to a clip right underneat (more to the center though) rear speakers. I am sure you can make that looking mechanism but making the seats fit is the real trick.

I have looked in my trunk and I have 3 clips holding my rear seats in place, then I consulted my owners manual and it said the 98 GA/Gt can come with rear folding seats.

well if they do come w/ rear (or some do) then you can. Just find a GA w/ them (i guess a junk yard) and take off the locking mechanism and just bolt it down.

I have done this swap. Go to a junkyard, find a grand am from your generation, make sure the interior is the same and buy the back of the seat, the part that folds. Go home, take out the bottom cushion, take out the seatbelt bolts (torx bolt, mine striped and i had to drill them out! Be careful, i'm not responsible for a problem.) lift the rear up and out. take the new seat and reverse the process.
I paid 50 bux for my seat back froma local salvage yard.
Good Luck
