You can edit posts for up to 24 hours after posting. After that you can no longer edit. The only difference from the old forum is that the edit button is not visible on posts you are not permitted to edit.

after 24 hours or anytime we should be able to edit or delete the post all the other forums let us why not here? i think we should have a poll and if we as members win it should be deamed we can edit or delete our treads and or posts.

Too many times this has been abused. One more than one occasion someone went back and edited every one of their posts to put in inappropriate remarks. As well, we've had people do the opposite, where they have posted something completely inappropriate, then gone back in to destroy the proof.

As much as we'd like to have no limit on editing, the abusers have ruined that privilege.

This is not a democracy. If you don't like how we run the forums we're not forcing you to stay.

We do appreciate suggestions, however there is a right way and a wrong way to approach such things. Your approach is the wrong way. Curb the attitude, please.

my suggestion shawn would be to have a poll if the members vote yes to beable to edit/delete posts i think we should have the oppertunity to do so if ppl f it up then switch it back thats my suggestion.

sorry if ya took me wrong i apolagise.

Again, this is not about what the membership wants. Of course everyone would like to edit their posts indefinitely. What I'm saying is that we have already made the decision not to allow it, for the reasons outlined above. We've tried it on 3 separate occasions, and all three times it was badly abused shortly afterwards.

I'm sorry, but it's something we just can't allow.

You would not believe some of the things users do to abuse the system. Indefinite editing is one of the worst. I've seen people on other forums go back and edit every single one of their posts to remove words, change their words to make other members look foolish or illiterate, delete every last one of their posts, etc.

24 hours is really more than long enough for you to make any necessary edits to a post. Big thumbs up for the new policy.

You are exactly right, and those are all things that have happened here. However I'd like to point out that this is not a new policy, we have always had a 24-hour limit on editing posts. We turned off that restriction 3 times over the past few years, and each time it was abused and the limit was re-imposed. The difference is that now with this new version of vBulletin, the Edit button is only visible during that 24 hours, so it is very obvious that the posts cannot be edited.

Again, not possible. With the ability to delete threads comes the possibility of good information threads being removed maliciously.

If you wish for your thread to be closed or removed or edited at anytime we encourage you to use the 'report post' link to contact the moderation team who will be happy to assist you. :)

S10 forum doesn't let you edit a post more than a hour after it's posted.
IIRC the Sportbike Network or R1forum don't let you edit your posts either.
