Ok here is the scoop. My rear speakers dont work. That seemed odd to me that both rear speakers would go out at the same time so I figured it was a connection somewhere. I looked at all connections everything looks good. Fisrt I thought it was in the radio but I put a new radio in because I wanted a CD player and still the speakers wont work. I ran 4 new wires from the speakers to the connector right at the radio. Guess what you got it still nothing. Is it possible there both blowen? This is on a 1999 SE there 8 OHM speakers. If I buy speakers should I buy 8 OHM to replace these? Im ready to light a fire in this thing. Any help would be great... thanks

Aside from factory speakers, your not going to find any aftermarket speakers that are 8 ohms. Tyically aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm. Since you said you have an aftermarket CD player, you don't have to keep 8 ohm speakers in the car.

Don't the stock speakers use an amplifier? Have you found the stock amplifier? The amplifier could be toast. I would suggest upgrading the stock headunit to an aftermarket headunit, and the same with the speakers. You'll get a lot better sound quality from both the aftermarket headunit, and speakers.

To the best of my knowledge the 99 SE's never came with any sort of upgraded/amped Audio package, I believe only the GT's did. If thier is an amp on the rears the 6x9's will have 4 wires going to each speaker. Also the amp should be located on the driver side of the trunk, behind the carpeting.

i would go for a reconstruction. replace the head unit, speakers, and power a little 10" or 12" for some bass
