I just got a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT the other day, and I am very excited! I'm going to be putting my system in it during Thanksgiving. But I need to still buy my wire harness. I have a Monsoon System in it, but I am going completely after market.

Will the Metra GMRC-01 wire harness work with my car, even though I have a Monsoon system? (Remember, I am putting a whole new system in. New head unit, speakers, amps, ect...)

Also, I read something about an antenna adapter. I will be installing an Alpine CDA-9887 head unit. Do I need an antenna adapter to hook up the factory antenna to this head unit? If so, which one? (Metra 40-GM10 or Metra 40-GM20?)

I already got the dash kit. I just need to get my wire harness and antenna adapter if needed. Thanks.

Yes, that is the correct wire harness for your car. And yes, you need an antenna adapter, GM uses a non-standard plug for their antennas. I'm not sure which one of those you need though.

Looking at the 2 adapters on Circuit City's website, I can't figure out which to buy.

I'm thinking I'm needing the Metra 40-GM20. Anybody know the correct one to use?

40-gm10. 40-GM20 is if you want to add a new antenna to the factory radio, I had to return mine because they gave me the GM20.

Looking over everything now, it makes sense. Thanks for the confirmation. I'm going to buy it Monday.

if you dont care about keeping the warning chimes you can get a standard 10 dollar harness, instead of getting bent over for the GMOS harness

For that you also need a 12V switched power source. I'm guessing he wants the chimes retained.

Got the Metra GMRC-01 harness today. Hooked it up to my after market harness, and I am now waiting for Friday, when I am going to install everything (New head unit, front and rear speakers, subs, and 2 amps). Can't wait!
