Hey guys,

I just had some questions on what to buy for the installation of a Flowmaster muffler. I am not so interested in the performance, kinda just want my GT sounding like a race car. I'm really not sure what series I wanna buy (40 series-80series). Am I gonna have to buy special piping along with the tips and muffler? Or will the installers be able to handle that?

Thanks.

80-series is the most popular.

How'd they put it on? I wanna be able to describe to the guys that install it for me exactly what I want.

Yes really. :slap:

I'll be picking up an 80-series as soon as I have the funds. That might be a while.

they hacked off the old stock muffler, and welded on the new one... only thing you really have to do is tell them what tips you want...

im not sure id try to tell them how to put a muffler on though, chances are they have done once or twice?

Ok thanks man, just wondering though, with your 2005 do you have that dual exhaust that I have. In my opinion, its like a fake out. Theres one down pipe into one muffler, but two exhaust pipes coming out of it. I was like wtf? I've been looking at the Flowmaster 80s and what I think they're ognna have to do is basically a custom piping to have the Flowmaster hang like the stock. Not sure though...appreciate everyone's help.

Yeah all the 99+ GAs are like that, single in/dual out.

Definitely go with Flowmaster 80s. I just had mine installed 2 weeks ago on my 2004 SE. I kept stock piping, cut out resonator, and went dual outs. Extremely happy. Very deep, aggressive tone. Sounds the best on idle. I want to post clips but I'm still waiting for my new f**kin camera. It's been almost three weeks now and I'm still waiting. When I receive, I'll post startup, idle, and flyby clips. It's a high-def camera so you'll be able to experience the true sound.

Also, let me know if you want pictures of underneath my car to help clarify the setup. I'll post them tomorrow afternoon if you are interested.

I have flowmaster 80 series, with upgraded piping to 2.5 inches, no resonator and hi flow catalytic converter.

It should sound at the least similar. My exhaust set up cost including installation. 90 for the muffler, 125 for the tips, 60 for the hi flow catalytic converter, and 175 for installation and piping. So tha gives you an idea of what you should spend. I bought the cat off ebay, tips and muffler from summit racing. If youd like PM me and Ill tell you the part numbers I used. The tips is up to you what kind you want, but I would suggest stainless steel, thats why my tips cost so much. You dont have to get these, but these are what mine look like.

Also if you don't have a cold air intake, you should get one, there is one for sale in the for sale section, PM Dargasonus about it and maybe pick that up too, then I garauntee you'll sound like mine.
