Well I finished up the intake a couple weeks ago and finally got pics. Here you go!

What did you buy for that? That is exactly the set up I was looking for for my car. it is a 3400 but I just want a short tube to the side and the cone filter.

It's a special plastic for a thermomolder. I didn't buy it, we had some extra at school and the shop teacher offered it to me. He gave me most of the stuff for my intake.
I would suggest buying anything that looks fairly tough and that wont melt under 200 degrees. Then you can just cut it up. I make a template with paper and cardboard. I may cover the engine side with heat reflective tape before I paint it.

i don't see how that works, heat is all around the engine bay, won't it come up over the top of those things? I can see the heat shield that actually fits over the filter(it also helps keep water out)

Yes, heat is all over the engine bay, however the shield HELPS to block heat from radiating to the filter and the air near it. No, it's not perfect but it does a very good job for what it is. I don't have a constant mushy pedal like I used to. As for one over the filter, how would that help? You still have hot air traveling to the filter element, it just goes around the shield into the filter. I have always wondered about them, perhaps I'm wrong though... Mine forms a wall seperating the filter from the engine. I also tore out a bunch of felt stuff from openings in the front of the car, so more air flows though. Again, it's NOT perfect, but it's better than stock.

oh ok,i guess i can see the help it gives keeping the air as cool as it can.

you should put some type of ducting into that area to allow more air flow, all I see is something blocking air flow. Yes it does stop heat directly, but it is making the engine suck air around it, and through the gap in the hood...thus restricting it's air flow.... if you were that concerned about heat, you should've installed a CAI. A narrow ducting, similar to ram air would put some "cooler" air into that area, maybe from below, or in the same path as the CAI...

my two cents:D
