Whats the stock size of the throttle body on my 2.4? and whats the best for me to upgrade to? Ive seen for sale 57mm and 62mm throttle bodies both claiming to be "big bore" and im going to be going with the OBX aluminum intake manifold as a replacement which you can see here.. http://www.tuningdepot.com/ebay/images/10097a.JPG
The 62mm T/B ive seen is on zspec.com (one of our sponsors), and is about 400 bucks, the 57mm one's ive seen are in a number of other places and for about half the price... So which would definitly be better and more noticable in the HP range...
Oh yeah, and these throttle body spacers... do they do anything???
Thanks

First off, what kind of modifications do you have done already?

stock size is 52mm. If you get one off any 2.3L quad 4, you can put it on with some modifications they are all 56mm.

Id rather go with a new one. But thanks anyway for answering one of my 3 questions lol. Im assuming that the bigger the better with the t/b's, and I still dont know what those spacers do if anything...

I wouldn't drop big bucks ($400 for a TB is ridiculous) on a mod with such minimal gain. A 2.3 HO manifold and TB can be obtained for $100 online, or less than $20-30 at a you-pull-it junkyard.

Incorrect. Technically TB's are like exhaust systems... too big is not optimal.
TB spacers... don't waste your time/money.

cool, thanks a lot... ill probly go with the 2.3 t/b or buy a new 57mm one, but I already bought the obx intake manifold. Sorry z-spec, there a spnsor but if the 400 dollars wont get me a gain thats worth it then i wont bother...

Each motor acts differently to spacers. Usually something with a small plentium like that won't benifit from it at all.

Yup. And the ones with the "swirl" BS on them... that doesn't do anything.

you should have waited on the obx manifold...people have had problems with them. You could have ordered this and gotten an intake manifold and ls1(75mm) tb for $450 plus shipping (if ordered through jbody.org before January 1st 2008). http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=50&i=32094&t=32094 If I were you, I'd sell the problem manifold and jump on this before it's too late.

i think 75mm is a lil much especially since i dont have forced induction and dont plan on it for a year or 2, except for nitrous this spring lol but even still...

If I were you, I would just go with the HO 56mm tb otherwise you are just wasting your money. I doubt the horsepower difference would even be noticeable or just stick with the stock tb.

Exactly bigger is not better, air managment plays a big factor in TB's not so much there size.
Also TB spacers say they help with the fuel air mixture but ur fuel and air dont meet untill the piston so they dont do anything at all.

What kind of problems? Because it seems like an exact replica of the plastic one actually... Just a sturdier material

its actually a knock-off of the $500 venom manifold, so things dont match up perfectly but then again thats what you get from obx, just about everything they make is a cheap knock-off of another companies product.
You should be fine though, im sure whatever it is you can mod it to work just fine.
