Well, after the sudden demise of my Riviera, I had to find another car. Yesterday I found that car. It's a '99 Intrigue with the 3800 and 73k miles. A little plain compared to the Riviera, but nice nonetheless. I'm very impressed with how nimble it feels compared to both the Riv and my old '97 Regal. Anyway, here are a few quick pictures...hopefully I can get some more scenic shots sometime soon. Also, it could use a bath!

I need to get some floor mats, and I've tossed around the idea of getting sun visors with the extenders, as these just don't block the sun effectively (spoiled by the Riv??).

Looks to be in a good shape. It seems like a really roomy and comfortable car to drive. Congrats. :)

It's an interesting car. It is pretty roomy I think, but it also feels like a smaller car. I think it was meant to compete with the Accord and Camry more than its siblings did (the Grand Prix and Regal). This is a small thing, but I'm glad they went with a darker color for the carpeting - if it was the same color as the seats, it'd look dirty pretty quickly!

Not at the moment. I've had a couple of supercharged 3800s and enjoyed them, but for now I'll just go with what I have. I don't have the time or funds to do major modding. :)

well if you need one, i know a guy with a 3800 supercharger, he took it off a GTP for his Impala when the guy went another direction and Turbo charged his 3800.

It has the 3800, which is fine with me. In another situation I'd probably like the 3.5L (DOHC engines can be fun), but right now I need something that I know well, so the 3800 is a good choice.

Thanks for the web link - I have registered (Brad99GX) and will check it out more once I'm approved. :)

Looks to be in good shape Brad. Be happy you went with the 3800, I have a few friends wiht the 3.5 not fun to work on and can hard to find parts for.

That's the other thing - the 3.5L, AFAIK, was only used in the Intrigue (maybe the Aurora base engine as well?), and production of the engine stopped with the demise of Olds. The 3800, luckily, has been in many vehicles across the GM line, so parts are very accessible.

Alot of the mods for the 3800 V6 Camaros should fit.

My son got a 3.5L DOHC model to replace his '87 Z28 after Ohio put the NOX test in and we couldn't get it to squeak thru emissions with no air-tubes and headers. He likes it real well. It's all in all nicer than my 94 daily driver, but not my style as much. I can't drive automatic for one thing....

That's good to know. :) It's hard to find much info on the Intrigue - all the fanfare goes to the Grand Prix and Regal! I would say that the Intrigue is not totally my style either, but I liked the price, the condition of the car, and the mileage enough to make up for that.

You should practice driving an automatic - someday you might need to drive one in an emergency!

there is more than enough mods available for the FWD L36.

also brad, if you do ever decide to put an M90 on it, be warned, alot more is needed than just the blower.

deggy, is this the blower off your friends car that went to turbo and slowed down? i'd still like a link to that car.
