My name is Jordan Whitaker I am a full time soldier in the US Army and I own a pontiac grand am 2.4L SE I already have a "Weapon R" short ram intake, 2.5 ince magnaflow exhaust from manifold back, I have a throttle body spacer, and American racing alloys with Falken tires and I am about to tune the computer. I want to have a car that I can take to the track and have some fun with. I would appreciate any help I could get on this as this is my first grand am and I have heard that they are quick when fixed up right, I haqve seen some impressive stuff on here already any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Where are ya stationed?? MOS??

Anyways do you have the 5 spd? Yea there is a ton of stuff you can do to the 2.4 to make it a pretty spirited motor. If you want to make it a real blast there are some great results with putting a turbo on them.

welcome to the site. First i would suggest you remove the throttle body space, it does nothing. Also, what are you going to use to tune your car?

Only if there is a vacuum leak. I would take it off anyway... it does nothing.

yes there might be a vacuum leak. As for mods after you fix that problem. I think extending the weapon R to the throttle Body removing the black box and a header would be a good next step.

Hey, so If my SES light is on and it is running fine except at idle what could it be, the symptoms are:
it used to idle at 700 RPM, now its at 1200RPM when it does go to 800rpm, it almost dies, I am really confused by this and am wondering if maybe the cold air intake and the cold weather here in Utah are making it do this. Does that make any sense at all, or am I talkin out of my fourth point of contact?

You're ODBII why dont you just get it scanned. Sounds a lot easier then guessing

I had it scanned the shop said it was lean so they claim it was the fuel rail was dirty I cleaned it. I took it to autozone and the code reader said it was rich so I don't know which one to trust.

Check your car out for vacuum leaks. Then check for any plugs that may have gotten loose at the connectors. Then check the o2 sensor and replace if necessary. Also check the TPS and IAC sensors. Also the MAP sensor too.

Sounds like it's one of those really lil tiny bitchy things that goes wonky and are hard to find.
