Car runs 10-15 seconds after i turn it off.

ok i need to know why the car runs after i turn it off and it makes a horrible sound (like a back fire threw the carb sound) and it smokes out of the intake. its a stock 2.4 the only thing done to it is a new battery, and i by-passed the fan to make it run when u turn the car on. its grounded to the main set of ground wires on the block. and run to a fuse on the fuse box. please help.

Not sure how the fan is bypassed exactly, but I'd remove it in case it is backfeeding another circuit on the car causing this.

If it still happens...
In order for it to "diesel" on shutdown, there has to be at least a little fuel, which would mean that at least one injector is leaky.

well it didnt start doing it till we put a new battery in it, and if it was leaking i would see it or smell gas since the fuel rail is right there. ill take a look and check the injectors and ill pull the fan as well for now. thanks for the ideas and removing that post.

When I mean "leak" I'm talking about the internal mechanism of the injector not closing all the way, thus leaking gas into the combustion chamber. External leakage wouldn't be related to this issue.
