Im going to be replacing my fuel injectors on my 97 GAGT with the 2.4L DOHC. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best way to do this or any tricks to make it go easier. Thanks

Easy... relieve fuel pressure, yank the vac line to the FPR, remove the screw on the metal strap that holds the hard fuel lines down, remove the nut securing the return line to the end of the rail, remove the 2 bolts securing the rail itself, pull up (in the same angle as the injectors) then unclip each electrical connector.

The injectors will probably stay in the rail. When you change them, pay attention to the O-rings. It is easy to forget, lose, or misalign them.

Why are you changing the injectors?

one of them is clogged and making the car run rich at idle (at least i think that is the problem) also changing the O2 sensor at the same time

It is throwing the P0172 System too Rich (Bank 1) code and i have narrowed it down to the injectors and/or the O2 sensor

how would u know if one of them is clogged?... (im getting really bad gas mileage, ive changed my 02 sensor, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, ive checked for a leak, and i cant find anything) ... could i have a bad injector as well?...

If it was clogged it would be running lean, stuck open would be rich.

You're violating the "implement 1 fix at a time" rule. If you insist on changing the O2 sensor, I'd do that first, alone. Also keep in mind many things can cause it to run rich... misfiring (plugs/ignition system), vac leaks (less vac pressure read at MAP, mistakingly injects more fuel) MAP, IAT or TPS sensor issues, etc.

Due to the high price of injectors, I wouldn't start there when troubleshooting.

Im sorry when i ment clogged i meant stuck open. I checked them with a stethescope and found that three of them are clicking and one is not. i checked the electrical connector and got a signal. I also went through a diagnostic procedure that i found on ALLDATA and it lead me to the injectors everything else tested good. The 02 change is really just to change it i checked them with a scanner and found they were changing within specs. The injectors were actually not bad i got 4 of them for 130 bucks online and i get 30 of that back when i send back my old ones for the core charge. I thought that wasnt too bad of a deal since all the parts stores around here wanted any where from 50-75 a piece plus a 20 dollar core for each one.

Oh ok... sounds like you did your homework then. Just wanted to make sure you didn't just arbitrarily decide that your injectors are messed up.

No im not one of them. Ive taken 3 auto classes in high school and im at WyoTech right now. So i definately know not to just assume. Just kinda sucks though because im from Chicago and go to school in Wyoming so my car is back home because the problem started like a month before i left and i didnt want to risk taking it out to a higher altitude especially when its running rich. So i have to wait until Christmas break until i can go home and fix the problem and hopefully drive back out here. Thanks for everyones help though!:)
