Hey Guys New Here Awesome Site Never Imgined There would be
a GrandAm dedicated Site!

I Have A Grand Am 2003 3.4L V.6 SE1 I am wondering Have any of you guys
ever Had to Replace a Cat converter on a OBII (Californian) My warranty Just
Expired. 102,000 miles I took it to the dealer where I bought It And they Want To charge me over $1,000 to fix. the cat converter alone is over $500.00 I Dont Live In california Dont ever plan on. the dealer diagnostics stated there was back pressure on the cat conv therefore needed to be replaced. Last Night I Jacked up the car and got under and noticed there is
a small sorta square tank in line with the exaust pipe before the cat conv. does anybody know what this is? Do you think I Can Get a Universal cat
and just have it cut in and welded by a muffler shop? Can my car be modified to non californian standards? and just Get a Direct fit Bolt on Cat?
Any Help Or suggestions appreciated Thanks In Advance!!!

I don't know where you live, but your local exhaust shop may be chaper.
I had my complete system replaced for $375 on my car, and it included a non-stainless cat, and the rest of the system including a stainless steel muffler and stainless piping.
My car has proper back pressure and it passed an emissions test since.
