i am planning on doing a custom exhaust pretty soon and i thought i had it all planned out, you know the regular, cut out the resonator and put straight pipe, y bracket into two flowmaster 80's. but then i had an idea. i just want opinions because i saw this on a 350z n was wondering if it will work on a grand am. from the manifold add a small straight pipe into a y pipe a cat at the end of each pipe and straight pipes all the way down and a 80 at the end of each straight. i may be completely stupid and saw it wrong and if i am being stupid dont b afraid to tell me because its prolly been done b4 or cant be done but jus want some opinions on what you guys think.

Why would you want two cats? What's the point of that setup?

two cats redundant and pricey added expense for no reason.

Transverse 80 with dual outlets, two mufflers won't fit too well and you may have to give up clearance.

You dont need 2 Flowmaster 80's. All you need to do is buy 1 80 series, since its single in and dual out. We have V6's not V8's

2 90 bends and 4 45 bends, there are three bend types, mandrel (best, interior diameter stays the same), crush or pressure bending, inside edge is pushed in a bit (normally what shops will do), and crinkle bending, where the inside edge is made by pushing in areas to make the desired angle.

thank you for the info, the reasonm i asked was no shops around my area have a madrel pipe bender but the local parts store can order pipe in any size bent however i needed it. Thanks again.

just off the top of my head, the reason there would be 2 cats right after the ext man would be so they can run a true duel exhaust and not have a section where they would have to have the two pipes from the manifold meet just for a cat. it would not surprise me if they were running a X-pipe duel exhaust on the 350Z. for instance, my other car, a 2001 crown vic(with the handling and performance package) has a true duel and it has the same setup only i have a H-pipe exhaust. just a thought

Mine is 2.5 inch piping from the downpipe back with a hi flow catalytic converter, and 1 flowmaster 80 series muffler.
