Try Tapping The End Of The Key With A Hammer It Sound Like The Tumblers Are Stuck I Have Done This Before On My Moms 03 Grand Am. After That It Worked Fine.

Sometimes the shifter isn't all the way in park, or the ignition doesn't think it is anyways. Try pushing your shifter towards the front of the car, and at the same time, try pulling the key out.
I've been dealing with this problem for years (too cheap to get it fixed), I think I found the workaround on here way back.
The key will not turn all the way to the Off position where you can remove it if the vehicle does not think it is in Park. This can be due to a bad solenoid.
There is a little cover under your steering column, looks like a battery cover for a remote.
Pop this open and inside you there is a little "button" you need to push & hold while you turn the key back and pull it out. If you're in the drivers seat it pushes up and back towards yourself. If your fingers aren't small enough use a pen/lid or something small.
Leave the cover off in case you need to access this regularly. Mine started out just doing it once every couple weeks and within a couple months I had to do it every time. Its a very quick process and I've become so used to doing this that when I drive anyone else's vehicle I am instinctively reaching under the steering column every time I stop. :)

I too am a cheap bastard, and never bothered to buy the new solenoid (which would have restored factory action).
I crashed my GA a year and a half ago, and now drive a Ford.
I still reach under the column occassionally!
Good luck,
-Rick
PS: Do NOT tap the key with a hammer, that has a high likelihood of permanently f'ing-up the cylinder.
