new guy with timing chain questions 97-2.4

changed waterpump, can't get timing chain back around intake cam pulley
help needed..


also purchased new tensioner and shoe assy.( i broke the original) how does one reload the tensioner ???

i have a chiltons and haines manual- they are not helping

I've never worked on this engine, but my Chilton's '85-98 seems to have a pretty fair explanation of how to do this.

There are others on this board who are familiar with this engine, and they'll be by some time today.

Be careful using the Haynes and Chiltons manuals. IIRC, the tensioner type changed at some point, and Haynes/Chiltons tends to overlook these minute (but important) details. (Year specific Helms or Alldata is recommended)

Sorry, I don't have any experience with the tensioner myself, but I would search the forums - I know this topic was brought up in the past.
