The past couple of weeks, my trunk has been popping open on its own, and if I don't see it like before I go to bed it kills my battery. I'm nowhere near the car with the remote, and I have to be within like 4 feet for the remote to ope it anyway. Has anyone else had this problem? I know I could put a small piece of tape or something on it to keep it from popping and making the trunk light come on, but I sure would like to fix it.

check the wiring that goes to the trunk actuator the harness can rub through from opening and closing the trunk. or could be a body control module or bcm failing

Weird. I went to start mine one day and it popped randomly, but that was the only time. And don't worry about the battery running down...It has rundown protection. After 10 or 20 minutes the light will go off.

I have the same problem. Happens a couple of times a year, usually during the winter. My remote is no where near in range.

Mine seems to do that whenever my battery runs down, or when the cable was shot...

Are you sure it's the trunk light killing the battery? (even the old 94-95's have a circuit to kill any trunk/interior lights left on longer than 20 minutes) Or the trunk release solenoid staying activated?

The '99+ also have battery rundown protection, although I think the interval is 30 minutes. I could be wrong on that, though.
