I have the S&S Headers (http://www.ssheaders.com) (one our of supporters, I should add :D) ... http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80659

In regards to having the computer re-tuned for the headers, MP Racing (www.mpracing.org) (yet another of our supporters :D)

how much are they total, for them plus all other expenses such as the pcm reflash or w/e and how hard are they to install. also, can they be put on a stock exhaust system? thx, and im sorry for thread jacking, im just curious...

They should bolt to the stock exhaust.

... you don't HAVE to have the computer changed but to take advantage of everything, you should ... it took about 7 hours or so for me and my brother-inlaw to install them as you obviously have to remove the entire cast iron manifolds but to do so, you have to remove a ton of other stuff :( which takes time and patience ... in terms of bolting it to the stock exhaust, in order to do that, you need the headers, plus, the flex joint and converter combo from S&S as well ... personally, I just had their flex joint and had the muffler shop weld all of my stuff back together being everything from my cat back was custom anyway :)

Is there any difference between the S&S headers flex w/ high flow cat w/ ceramic coating, and pace setter 3.4 headers with ZZP downpipe.

Got a link to the 3.4 headers from Pacesetter? AFAIK they were for the Monte Carlo and may take some modifying to fit correctly.

Notice how they have one number for both engines? I'm guessing it's just the 2.4 header. They don't even have the 3.4 headers listed on the Pacesetter website.

Pacesetter does now make headers for 3.4 GA's.
Do a search i started a thread on it.

I saw that thread, that's why I mentioned it earlier, the site he was looking at had one number for both engines and it was $250 so I'm fairly sure it's only the 2.4 header.

If i decide to purchase the headers and not get my pcm tuned for them will i still see performance increases????

unless someone can show me a link to an actual set for a grand am I am gonna have to dissagree with ya on this coupe...

afik pacesetter makes headers for the 97-03 Grand Prix, 00-05 Monte Carlo & Impala 3.1/3.4L.. but NONE for the 3100/3400 powered GMX130 (late model n-body)

would be nice if someone could persuade Pacesetter to actually make ones for this application though

... I'll be happy with a couple tenths :)

mine chopped 4 tenths before the retune, and that was at high altitude and on a hot day, compared to my home track. With my retune i should be sub 15 easy

Has anybody actually called pacesetter? I dont doubt that its $250 for the headers from them seeing how I see LS1 headers going for around 325. They are just that cheap.

... sometimes it is better to pay for quality :)

I do agree with you on that. Thats why Im leaning towards American Racing headers for my future LS1 if it doesnt come with them. :):):)

... under the same idea of quality, look for a second generation, they're better ;) :kidding:

here you are... http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQPontiacQQGrand_AmQQPacesetterQQHeadersQQ19992002 QQP4072C1274.html

ive been looking at these, much cheaper. anyone ever gotten them before? i dont want to pay 900 bucks for headers

those wont work for you since they are only for 4cyl apps

Mirage

it says also made for 3.4 right under it on the ordering thing. thats just a picture of what the 2.4 ones look like.

actually it says that that particular part will fit both 4 and 6 cyl applications... while this may be true for a cat back system on these cars it is very far from the truth when talking about headers...

the only 3100/3400 apps that pacesetter makes headers for are 1997-03 Pontiac Grand Prix, 1997-05 Buick Century, and 2000-05 Chevy Monte Carlo and Impala... these all use the same part #...

the ONLY place you can currently purchase pre-made headers for our cars is though S&S

thats it? thats the only place? thats really sad..

Vampyrate
12-24-2007, 07:21 AM
not just sad, but disappointing considering that if MM did make the headers, they could sell the pcm retune as a package and get a lot more orders (especially one from me)

99GrandAMSE
12-24-2007, 10:15 AM
... you don't need a retune for headers but you can if you want ... in regards to the price, it is a little high but at the same time with S&S you are getting quality product and from my experience, knowledge and great customer support.

As with lots of things, not all headers are created equal!!
