Where is a good place to put the power cable for an amp???
In other words do i have to drill into the firewall to get it through? And in that case, where is a good place to drill? Any pics or guides would be much appreciated.

... under the hood, on the driver side of the firewall, you will most likely see an area through which there are alreay a 'bunch' of factory wires so simply put, you can generally slide a wire(s) through this hole :)

I think I see the area you are talking about. I just pull the wire through there? Or do I have to take off the rubber bushing. And if I do take it off, can i leave it at that? Would i have to fill it in?

Hmm, i was actually mistaken, for my year it does not look like there is a factory wire harness already in. Any other good places? Or will i have to drill.

dont drill until youve exhausted all of your options. look around for a gromet (rubber thing) where the stock wires run through. you do have it somewhere. if its too far out of the way then you should drill. make sureyou cover the power wire in loom to protect it in the engine bay.

i have pics of how i did my power wire install...i think our cars should be VERY similar. I didnt have to drill any holes so if you need this info hit me back with an email at acoolguy@satx.rr.com pZ

Please post the pics, I am very interested in this information as well. All of my searches come up with later model GAs and the wiring doesn't seem to be similar at all to my car for the pics I've seen.

Thanks!!

here's how i did it:

first: go under the steering column and its dash and take off the plastic protecting the wires for everything under the steering column. there are 2 or 3 screws and a little manuvering to do around a funny clip

second: now look under into the space and look to the left of the firewall for a large wire going thru the firewall with a bunch of sticky rubber stuff around it.

third: this rubber is very pliable and can be molded into making a hole for a wire to go thru (tip: to get wire thru into engine bay, use a coat hanger taped to the end and put the hanger thru firts and then pull

once the desired amount of wire is int he engine bay, just move the rubber stuff around the power wire and make sure its nice and sealed. then re-apply the under-dash plastic and ur set! run the wire under the door trim on the floor to the trunk and your off to the races! hope that helps ya man

Shoot, i just tried that and i think i pulled out a cable. The grommet had a cable going from it to the big brake system inside the car, in the engine bay it also went somewhere. It seemed to pull out very easily though.

Used the search button and this is the closest answer I came up with for my question....
Where is the easiest place to go through the firewall to grab power from the battery for an amp. Preferably not drilling. I do not see any grommets under the dash.
Maybe someone has pics... 94'SE

goto the hardware store and buy a grommet, drill a hole, insert the grommet and put the wire through, just be careful when drilling that you know where its gonna come out, use another hole or wire as a landmark

yeah, i agree with dave. drilling is kind of a last resort. although sometimes it's a necessity if the wire gets too big. if you drill just BE CAREFUL lol, and i suggest putting a piece of tape around the drill bit about 1/4" up the bit to keep the bit from going all the way in. ;) cause the bit will only go to the tape and then stop, keeps you from puncturing anything maybe

Try this for your wiring needs! I believe this is a 2000 GAGT. But I also remember doing the same on my GASE.. Good luck!

Thanx everyone. Me and my buddy actually found a gromet under the plastic cover under the dash. Pretty easy install from there.
System sounds great.
Once again thanx everyone for the help.

I'm glad it wasn't suggested, but DO NOT just run the power wire up through your door jam and into the engine bay! It may seem super easy and tempting to do at times, but not only is it ultra ghetto, its VERY unsafe.

I agree... The power line can split very easy and cause a fire

I have my power wire ran under the carpet and loomed too, even inside the car, heh...
