So the wife just bought me my flowmaster 80. I had her get the 2.5 in/out. I was thinking of upgrading to 2.5 inch piping. My question is, is it beneficial to go with the bigger piping? The only other performance mod is a CAI. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

If you have the money, you might as well. Get a high flow cat, depending on how many miles are on your GA. A high flow wont be a noticable difference to the stock, unless the stock is wearing out. You could also cut out the resinator if you wish. Its personal prefurance. Depends on the sound you want. I have 2.5" cat-back with high flow cat and a Flo~Pro(basically 80 series) with out a resinator. I love the sound. You will gain a little hp, but also loose a little bottom end. Nothing really noticable.

Yes, upgrading pipe diameter is where the gain is obtained. Changing the muffler alone doesn't make that much of a difference.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll go ahead and upgrade the piping. I'm not sure if I'll be doing anymore mods. I think I maybe looking into a tuned PCM. Any thoughts on if it will be beneficial? I don't plan on ever taking her to the track.

if you want you could also look into a new throttle body and or spacers too. I dont know exactly the gains to them but it would also add into it.

PCM made a pretty good difference for me, I love the 4-2 and 3-1 downshifts.
Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll go ahead and upgrade the piping. Get mandrel bent pipe , otherwise you're wasting your $$ ;)

Pressure bends are just fine if done well. Mandrel bends = $$$ and it was very difficult to find shops that will do real mandrel bending. I splurged for all mandrel bends in my mid-pipe. Honestly, I could have gotten away with pressure bends, but it was a "perfectionist" thing, and the price reflected that.
But... you do want to avoid crush or pinch bends at all costs.

i left the stock pipe, added the flowmaster 80 and had the resonator cut out... wouldnt have it any other way although my gas milage took a dump because i love the sound she makes!
kinda weird, when i had the work done i asked the muffler shop to do 2.5 inch tubing for the exhaust and they refused, said i was wasting my money...

Rule of thumb... if an exhaust shop isn't willing to do work as you specify (provided it isn't a ridiculous request) then you should go to a different shop.
