i have a 760 watt 2 channel sony explode amp, a 10" alpine type R, and a 12" alpine type E...my question is can i hook up my 12" to one channel and my 10" to the other channel??

bah! don't do it!!!! let me repeat that again, don't do it!!!
first off, putting 2 diff. size subwoofers together is a mistake, secondly, putting 2 diff. KINDS of subwoofers is a really, really big mistake... you're gonna get so much variation in sound quality, it'll sound sooooo freaking bad... and, that amp you have really, really sucks... my suggestion is just to run the one 12" type e... you'll get more slam that way (even tho the type r is better) from the amp you have... but, if you want something that'll hit pretty hard and be a little tighter, use the type r... just plz don't use them both together! (i love alpine's subs, and it'd just be a damn waste to do that...)
