I have a 1996 Grand Am with a Quad 4. Recently after having some work done by a mechanic, I was told that I should probably have my rear fuel filter changed because it was looking corroded/rusty. So I asked the mechanic to change the fuel filter.
But after trying, the mechanic told me “he was unable to get the fuel filter off due to the corrosion”. So I took my car to a different mechanic and asked them to change the rear fuel filter. I was once again told the same thing (That the fuel filter will not come off due to corrosion). I was told it would cost upwards of $500 to change the fuel filter since the fuel line would also have to be changed which means the fuel tank will have to be dropped.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? If so were you able to somehow get the fuel filter off? If so how? What do you guys recommend? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks!
