ok, i know ive asked this question before, but my hypertech thermostat is coming in tomorrow, and Id really like to know what the heck im looking for, before I make a mess of coolant./

Ive ben told time and time again that there is a "white" drainning plug on the bottom of the radiator, driver side, but I just cant seem to find it. Will I have to remove the underbody slash guards and assembly to get to it?

If anyone could provide some pics as to the general direction that I should be looking to, that would be greatly appreciated. Also I was thinking that I only need to drain about 1/3 of the coolant, since the inlet maifold tubing is near the top of the radiator, otherwise is there still a need to drain the ENTIRE coolant.

all and any help is greatly appreciated

1/3 should work fine.
Most raditors have a medal band across the top and the bottom that the cooling fins fit in. Rub your hand if your eyes can't see it along the bottom metal band or base. it should be sticking out from it.

Also unless you changed the antifreeze/water latley this would be a great time to change it also, so you know every thing is fresh and new.

why dont you flush the coolant system out?? that wouldnt hurt either.

Yes, you have to remove the splash shield to get to the base of the radiator. :) Giving the cooling system a good flush isn't a bad idea either.

Despite the official line from GM and the reccomended change intervals, I'd fluch the Dexcool out every year or 2 after what I've seen and heard. :nervous:

Yup..what they said. Just have a screwdriver and give the cap a slight twist and something to catch the coolant in. Comes out pretty quick. Helps to have it jacked up a little too for eaiser access..

I believe it requires and an Alen Key wrench to remove because of it's design but you can use a Flat screw driver to re-install. Watch out for air lock when you replace your coolant.
