My, how the badges lie. To anyone else on the road, this black Holden Commodore is a regular HSV GTS, the 6.0-liter V-8 sport sedan built by GM's Australian hot-shop, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV). With its 20-inch wheels, big brakes, and tied-down suspension, the HSV GTS previews the 425-hp Pontiac G8 GXP we'll see here sometime in late 2008.

This is exactly what the G8 needs. Talk about a fun fun fun fun car to drive.
Or you can give it the CTS-V engine that is going in the car in 09?? The GXP will be a great car if they make it.

Not gonna happen. Why would GM put out a Pontiac with the same HP as the Z06 at around half the cost?

cause by the time it comes out the z06 will be faster and more powerful.

If anything, they'll make the LS3 an option on the G8 and leave the LS7 to just the Z06.

And about 1k pounds less.
GM put the "corvette" engine in the F body for so long too but the corvette still sold in great numbers. The Z06 is about refinement and affordability. They are freaking running 10's in the 1/4 on stock tires with them. Plus I bet that if they do this route the car will be up in the 50-55k price range if they go with the LS7.

That would make even more sense to put in a GXP model with some computer tweaking bumping up the HP. S

Why not they had a Buick that would embarress Corvette owners all day and still get better fuel ecconomy just two decades ago.
Actually the ZO6 is supposed to be sporting a LS9 in coming years with a possible Supercharged LS9 in a ZR1 Corvette.

Yep. GM is constantly upgrading. They wouldn't throw the LS7 into the G8 without upgrading the Z06 Vette to a newer engine such as the LS9.
