I started my car up in the garage and backed out. ( It was raining cats and dogs, if that helps ) The ABS light came on. The book says turn the car off, and if it stays off you do not need service. I turned the car off, and back on, and it hasnt come on again since. I read the other thread where they said the TRAC and ABS lights kept coming on......but mine is just the ABS and just this once. The book says not to be concerned but here is my question......what made it come on?

If there is anything actually wrong with your car, it's probably the alternator. But mine has done that before when it was raining. I think it's just the ABS going from dry to wet and assuming that the difference must be a problem within itself. I dunno...

my car did the same thing but came on and stayed on an average of twice a month. guess what. when i got my rear brakes fixed, ( they were really messed up) the computer needed to be reset. never had the prob again. if your light comes on again, try unhooking your battery for thirty mins and it should be fine.

This is sounding similar to mine. My ABS light has come on each morning but not in the afternoon, go figure. It has been more when I am turning left but I think it is more coincidence then cause. I have replace both front wheel bearing (and the speeds sensors) not that long ago. If I had to guess I am thinking I might be in the group that found out the alternator is the cause.
