you need to get rid of the wires showing and the rear of it the headliner is crumbled up. After fixing that it should like good.

It is from a blazer you can get them in bravada's as well. I can not do it because I have a sun roof in my truck...

It came in blazer,astro,tahoe, and ect. This is a basic one with just compass and temp. Others can show MPG,mile to E and ect. One thing to remember is the the compass is made into the console on longer ones. For the the shorter ones you have to take the bracket on top of it.

Why didn't you just connect the dome light to the factory wires?

I have thought of doing this to my truck but I would just end up removing it in the future when I do my sliding ragtop.

You can rig a switch to make it toggable. Some of the newer GM cars have a 3 way switch: On, Door, Off.
